Show Off a Sturdy, Strong Smile

Dental implants and dentures are an excellent way to restore a healthy appearance to smiles that are missing teeth or rows of teeth. Unfortunately, implants are often only ideal for one or two teeth and dentures aren’t permanent and can often shift out of place. Individuals who are missing rows of teeth can seek permanent relieve from overdentures, which are available at Advanced Dental Arts in our Tampa, Wesley Chapel, Citrus Park, Carrollwood, Lakeland, and New Port Richey offices. We strive to ensure our patients are provided with top quality care and attention, and we work with some of the top facilities to create dentures and implants that will improve the overall structure of your jaw and mouth.

What Are Overdentures?

This dental application is essentially a combination of an implant and dentures. They may be known as overdentures, stabilized dentures, or implant supported dentures. Many dental health care professionals believe that overdentures are a much better alternative to regular dentures, as they offer patients a more comfortable, more stable option. In some cases, dentures can even cause to bone loss or change your jaw structure. Implant supported dentures can prevent that, and they are typically a more cost-effective option than a full set of implants. Instead of securing each individual tooth to an implant in the root, a set of dentures is customized to fit your unique jaw structure. Then, two or four implants will be placed into your mouth and the denture set will be secured to them. Unfortunately, this treatment is usually only recommended for lower dentures, as the implants are harder to secure on the upper jaw.

Benefits of Overdentures

It is widely agreed that loosely fitting dentures can have a negative impact on your dental health. Denture stabilization can help patients regain functions they may have lost with loose dentures or missing teeth. Some of the benefits that patients may experience are:

  • Stabilized chewing, which can allow you to eat a more balanced diet
  • The ability to comfortably speak without feeling embarrassed
  • Less gum irritation
  • Eliminates the need for denture adhesives
  • Can boost your overall confidence and self-esteem
  • The procedure is minimally invasive and provides incredible support
  • A more natural overall appearance than just dentures alone

We recommend this procedure to patients who already have dentures, as you often don’t even need to be fit for a new pair. Plus, they are highly durable and have the highest success rate of any surgically implanted dental device available.
